Commissioning a 3D Portrait by Andrew Eldridge

How it Works

Before accepting any commission I like to be prepared for what is effectively a personal project between you and me.  I like to have a clear understanding of your requirements and expectations so that I can make sure you will be 100% happy with the finished works.

If you would like to commission a new dimension 3D portrait sculpture from me, I will need you to provide me with certain information to enable me to produce the best result.

Firstly, who or what is the subject. Next the size of the finished work; I offer ¼, ½ and life size modelling.*  Is the finished work to be facial portrait or a lifestyle study. How would you like your sculpture to be finished and finally, do you have a time scale requirement.

Life Masks & Facial Portrait Sculptures

 3d portrait male female couple

Facial Life Masks - Full Heads and Busts. Front on, in profile or a complete 3D head. You have the option as to how your sculpture should be displayed; free-standing or wall-hanging.

Lifestyle Portrait Studies

3D studies that are more than just a likeness. These studies aim to create a picture of, and include elements of a persons character.  Whatever your preference, these three dimensional lifelike portraits are created in a variety of finishes and will serve as wonderful reminders of how we were

Weddings Engagements and Groups

Beautiful gifts that create a classic sculpture that will last many lifetimes.

3d mum and bump baby portraitMum and Bump

At any stage during pregnancy, what better than a very personal sculpture of the pregnant mum to be?  A classic mum and bump portrait in glorious 3D.  Stunning on the wall, or as a crafted desktop ornament.  Totally safe process!**

Death Masks

Facial masks only. A traditional after death portrait service which dates back many centuries and used by many different cultures around the world. These masks are produced as a memorial to the deceased subject and they can be provided ready for mounting directly onto a memorial head stone, or for internal use such as wall hanging or free standing display.

How is it Done

The image capture process is done by utilising the latest digital capture technology to create a “cyber” subject replica! Clean, Safe and non-contact; it avoids many hours of repeat sittings for a traditional hand moulded portrait, or that drowning, messy feeling often experienced when making face casts.**

This process can take place right here in my studio or if its easier for you, I can visit you at your home or office. The capture process takes very little of your time and once completed, the computing power and technology of my cyber building system takes over in order to pre-map the matrix of your portrait sculpture ready for me to hand finish. At this stage, your cyber model will be securely published online for you to view and approve before I produce the final sculpture ready for finishing.

The standard sculptures are created in ultra white, using resin injected high performance composite materials, or if you prefer something different, I can offer a variety of hand finished, multi layered coatings.

Once the Sculpture has been created, if you wish, I can create a mould that can be cast in just about any material such as a traditional bronze.

Cold cast metals are a fraction of the cost of foundry castings however foundry castings can be produced in bronze, aluminium, iron and glass.

* All sizes are approximate but can be made closely to a meet a specific requirement for a height or width measurement.

** The process I use is totally safe and non-contact however it does involves the use of strobing flashing lights which maybe of concern to those with epilepsy
